Description
Hand-blown art glass sculpture in the form of a stylized elephant head, worked in clear glass with looping ribbons of pink, green, and cobalt blue swirled through the body. The upswept trunk curves gracefully overhead and terminates in a small notched tip, while two petal-shaped ears and a pair of small curled tusks project from the sides, giving the piece real presence whether displayed on a shelf or mounted to a wall like a whimsical trophy head.
The glass is solid and heavy in the hand, with the colored cane work embedded within clear crystal rather than applied to the surface, producing a layered, dimensional look as the stripes twist through the body. No maker’s mark or signature is visible on the piece; the coloring and freeform lampwork style are consistent with mid-century Italian and studio art glass traditions.
The piece is in overall good condition with no cracks or breaks. The trunk tip shows a rough, slightly frosted texture consistent with the glass-forming process, and a small circular paper sticker with faint pencil or ink marking remains adhered to the underside of the base. Light surface scuffing and a few small embedded bubbles typical of hand-blown glass are present throughout.
