Description
Series 1976 two-dollar Federal Reserve Note featuring Thomas Jefferson’s portrait on the face and an engraving of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on the reverse. The note carries the green Treasury seal and serial number E18164728A, with the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, Virginia designation (district letter E) stamped at left.
Printed text on the face reads “Washington, D.C.” and “This Note Is Legal Tender For All Debts, Public and Private,” with the signatures of Francine A. Neff, Treasurer of the United States, and William E. Simon, Secretary of the Treasury, appearing below the portrait. The reverse bears the familiar Declaration of Independence vignette along with “In God We Trust” and “Declaration of Independence, 1776” banners.
The note shows a center fold and additional light creasing consistent with circulation, along with mild overall toning and a few small spots of discoloration on the front. A small mark is visible near the lower edge of the Jefferson portrait. Corners remain intact with no major tears.
