Description
Printed for everyday circulation and legal tender use, this Two Dollar Federal Reserve Note carries the Series 1976 date and a green Treasury seal. Thomas Jefferson’s portrait sits centered on the face, flanked by matching serial number B20827595A, with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York seal and district letter “B” appearing at left. The note reads “THIS NOTE IS LEGAL TENDER FOR ALL DEBTS, PUBLIC AND PRIVATE” beneath the standard Federal Reserve Note heading.
The reverse features the well-known engraving of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, framed by “THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” banner text and the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST.” Printed signatures of the Treasurer of the United States (Francine Neff) and the Secretary of the Treasury (William Simon) appear on the face, both standard elements of this currency series. Washington, D.C. is printed as the issuing location beneath the portrait.
The note shows overall circulated wear consistent with its age, including light creasing, mild toning to the paper, and soft corners. A small paper price tag reading “0017” is affixed to the front within a protective plastic sleeve, and the note displays typical handling marks without tears or missing pieces.
