Description
Series 1976 two-dollar bill issued by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, featuring Thomas Jefferson’s portrait on the obverse and the classic engraving of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on the reverse. This denomination marked the note’s reintroduction after a lengthy hiatus, and it remains legal tender for all debts, public and private, as printed directly on the face.
The note carries the green Treasury seal and green serial number B16703613A, flanked by the New York Federal Reserve Bank seal marked with the letter “B.” Printed signatures of Francine A. Neff, Treasurer of the United States, and William E. Simon, Secretary of the Treasury, appear along the lower border, with “SERIES 1976” printed centrally between them.
The bill presents in crisp, clean condition with sharp corners and strong paper body, showing only light natural handling consistent with a note that has seen minimal circulation. A small paper tag has been affixed near the Federal Reserve seal for inventory purposes and the note is currently housed in a protective plastic sleeve.
