Bold green Treasury seal and serial numbers frame Thomas Jefferson’s portrait on this Two Dollar Federal Reserve Note, Series 1976, issued in Washington, D.C. The reverse carries the well-known engraving of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, printed in matching green ink, with “IN GOD WE TRUST” and “DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE, 1776” banked beneath the scene.
The note was issued from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, indicated by the “B” district seal and letter, with matching serial number B27206762A printed in green at both upper right and lower left. Facsimile signatures of Francine Neff, Treasurer of the United States, and William Simon, Secretary of the Treasury, appear along the lower border. The bill is currently housed in a protective plastic sleeve with a small paper tag numbered “0020” attached, which is an inventory marker rather than a part of the currency itself.
The note shows the handling expected of a circulated bill, with visible corner softening, light overall creasing, and mild toning to the paper, particularly along the edges. A small reddish mark is present near the green Treasury seal on the face. No tears, holes, or significant staining are evident.
