Description
Dating to the Series 1976 issue, this Two Dollar Federal Reserve Note features the familiar portrait of Thomas Jefferson on the face and the engraved scene of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on the reverse. Printed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, the note carries a green Treasury seal and green serial numbers, standard for Federal Reserve Notes of this era.
The note was issued from the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, indicated by the “C” seal and district numbers (G4/G27) in the corners. Serial number C19813637A appears twice on the face, and the printed signatures of Francine Neff, Treasurer of the United States, and William Simon, Secretary of the Treasury, appear below the portrait, consistent with the 1976 series. “Washington, D.C.” is printed beneath the serial number on the upper right.
The note shows genuine circulation wear, including light overall toning, soft corner wear, and a visible horizontal crease near the center. Some mild discoloration and minor surface soiling are present along the edges, and a faint diagonal crease runs across the lower right portion of the bill. No tears, holes, or writing are present on the note itself.
