Description
United States two-dollar bill, Series 1976, Federal Reserve Note issued by the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, Ohio (district D). The obverse carries the familiar portrait of Thomas Jefferson framed in an oval vignette, with a green Treasury seal and matching green serial numbers reading D09197450A. The reverse features the iconic engraving of the Declaration of Independence signing, with “IN GOD WE TRUST” and “DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE, 1776” printed along the base of the design.
Printed signatures of Francine I. Neff, Treasurer of the United States, and William E. Simon, Secretary of the Treasury, appear on the face, consistent with Series 1976 issue. District and bank identifiers (D2, D37, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland seal) are clearly printed in the left field of the note. The bill is currently housed in a protective plastic sleeve with a paper tag noting inventory number 0032.
The note shows even, moderate circulation wear with noticeable toning and yellowing along the edges and corners, a center fold line running horizontally, and light overall handling creases. Small scattered spots of foxing/discoloration are visible on the front border, and the paper retains its original flexibility without tears or missing pieces.
