1976 Series Two Dollar Federal Reserve Note

United States two dollar bill from the Series 1976 issue, a Federal Reserve Note printed for general circulation and still valid legal tender for all debts, public and private. The obverse features the portrait of Thomas Jefferson at center, framed by the note’s ornate green Treasury seal and serial numbers B33351486A printed in green ink. The reverse carries the well-known engraving of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, with the inscription “In God We Trust” and the date “July 4, 1776” beneath the scene.

The note was issued by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, identified by the “B” seal and district markings in the upper left corner. It bears the printed signatures of Francine A. Neff, Treasurer of the United States, and William E. Simon, Secretary of the Treasury, both standard for this series. The note measures the standard U.S. currency size and is printed on the typical cotton-linen blend paper used for federal banknotes of the era.

The note shows a visible vertical center fold along with additional light creasing across the surface, consistent with having circulated. The paper has taken on light overall toning and some soft corner wear, but the printing, portrait detail, and serial numbers remain crisp and fully legible. It is currently housed in a protective plastic sleeve with an auction lot tag affixed to the front.
