Description
A crisp green-and-black Series 1976 two-dollar bill takes center stage, Thomas Jefferson’s portrait framed in an oval at the middle of the face and a bold green Treasury seal stamped beside it. Issued as a Federal Reserve Note from the New York district (seal letter B), the bill carries the familiar legal tender inscription and the denomination spelled out in the ornate corner numerals typical of the design.
The reverse features the well-known engraving of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, framed by banners reading “The United States of America” and “In God We Trust,” with “Declaration of Independence, 1776” printed along the base. The face bears the printed signatures of Francine I. Neff, Treasurer of the United States, and William E. Simon, Secretary of the Treasury, along with the serial number B17867447A repeated in green ink at both upper corners.
The note remains flat and crisp with no folds, tears, or pinholes visible. Some light toning is present along the edges and corners, consistent with age, and the bill is currently housed in a protective plastic sleeve with a small paper tag numbered “0041” affixed to the front, likely from a prior lot or collection inventory.
