Description
Series 1976 Two Dollar Federal Reserve Note issued by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York (District B), featuring the portrait of Thomas Jefferson on the face and an engraving of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on the reverse. The note carries the green Treasury seal, the phrase “This Note Is Legal Tender For All Debts, Public and Private,” and serial number B24474823A repeated in green ink at both top and bottom corners.
Printed text identifies the note as a Federal Reserve Note payable through Washington, D.C., with the engraved signatures of Francine I. Neff, Treasurer of the United States, and William E. Simon, Secretary of the Treasury. District indicator “B” and check letters H1/H10 appear within the seal and corner numerals. The note is shown loose as well as housed in a protective currency sleeve with a small paper reference tag.
The bill shows overall circulation wear consistent with its age, including light overall toning to the paper, soft corners, a visible horizontal crease near the center, and a faint pinkish discoloration mark near the lower left signature area. No tears, holes, or added writing are present on the note itself.
