Description
United States two-dollar bill, Series 1976, printed on the standard cotton-linen currency paper used for Federal Reserve Notes. The obverse carries the familiar portrait of Thomas Jefferson at center, while the reverse reproduces John Trumbull’s engraving of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, framed by “THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “TWO DOLLARS” banners.
The note was issued by the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, Virginia, identified by the “E” district seal and letter. Serial number E08491599A appears twice in green ink on the face, matching the green Treasury seal used on Federal Reserve Notes of this series. Signatures of Francine I. Neff, Treasurer of the United States, and William E. Simon, Secretary of the Treasury, appear along the lower portion of the note.
The bill shows genuine circulation wear consistent with its age, including a vertical center crease running the length of the note, light overall toning to an ivory/tan tone, and a small nick along the top edge. Corners show mild softening and there is minor surface handling wear throughout, but the printing, portrait detail, and both serial numbers remain crisp and fully legible.
