Description
Green-seal Series 1976 two-dollar bill, printed with Thomas Jefferson’s portrait on the obverse and the engraved scene of the signing of the Declaration of Independence spanning the reverse. Issued as a Federal Reserve Note, the bill reads “THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “TWO DOLLARS” in banner text on the back, with “IN GOD WE TRUST” and “DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE, 1776” printed beneath the central engraving.
The note carries serial number B11734288A in green ink, along with the green Treasury seal and the district letter B, identifying issue through the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Two engraved signatures appear along the lower portion of the obverse, along with the printed statement “THIS NOTE IS LEGAL TENDER FOR ALL DEBTS, PUBLIC AND PRIVATE” and “SERIES 1976” beneath the Treasury seal.
The bill shows honest circulated wear, including a central vertical fold, softened corners, and scattered foxing and tan-toned discoloration across both faces. A small reddish-pink mark is visible on the reverse near the Independence Hall scene, and the note is currently housed in a protective plastic sleeve with a paper price tag affixed for sale.
