Description
Bicentennial-era United States currency, this 1976 Series two-dollar Federal Reserve Note carries the familiar Jefferson portrait on its face and the iconic engraving of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on the reverse. Issued the year the design was reintroduced to mark the American Bicentennial, the note remains legal tender for all debts, public and private, as stated directly on the bill.
The note is printed with a green Treasury seal and green serial numbers, serial number B02745063A, identifying it as issued through the Federal Reserve Bank of New York (District B). Signatures of the Treasurer of the United States and the Secretary of the Treasury appear in the lower portion of the obverse, and the reverse bears the “IN GOD WE TRUST” motto along with the “DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE, 1776” caption beneath the engraved scene.
The note shows the natural toning and light handling typical of a circulated bill of this vintage, with visible fold lines and a small stain or spot near the portrait on the obverse. Edges are intact with no tears, and the note is currently housed in a protective plastic sleeve bearing a numbered collector’s tag.
