Description
United States two-dollar Federal Reserve Note, Series 1976, featuring the portrait of Thomas Jefferson on the face and an engraving of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on the reverse. This denomination was issued to commemorate the U.S. Bicentennial and remains legal tender for all debts, public and private, as printed directly on the note.
The note carries a green Treasury seal and green serial number B15363934A, with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York designation “D” seal visible on the face. Printed signatures of Francine I. Neff, Treasurer of the United States, and William E. Simon, Secretary of the Treasury, appear at lower left and right. The reverse bears the familiar “IN GOD WE TRUST” banner and the inscription “DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE, 1776.” A small paper tag numbered 0053 is affixed to the front of the note, and it is currently housed in a protective plastic sleeve.
The note shows light, even circulation wear with mild toning to the paper and gentle handling creases, but no tears, holes, or heavy folds. Corners remain sharp with only minor softening, and the printing and green ink remain crisp and well-defined throughout.
