Description
United States two-dollar bill, Series 1976, printed on the standard cotton-linen currency paper used by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. The obverse carries the engraved portrait of Thomas Jefferson at center, a green Treasury seal, and the serial number B29212276A printed in green ink at upper right and lower left. This is a Federal Reserve Note, legal tender for all debts, public and private, as stated on the face of the bill.
The note carries the seal and letter designation of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York (District B), along with the facsimile signatures of Francine I. Neff, Treasurer of the United States, and William E. Simon, Secretary of the Treasury. The reverse features the well-known engraving of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, framed by “IN GOD WE TRUST” and the denomination spelled out in the corners.
The bill remains crisp with strong original color and sharp print detail throughout. Light, even toning is visible along the edges and border, consistent with age and handling, but there are no tears, heavy creases, or writing on the note itself. It is currently housed in a clear protective sleeve with an old paper price tag reading “0055” affixed to the exterior of the sleeve.
