Description
United States one-dollar Silver Certificate from Series 1957B, featuring the familiar portrait of George Washington centered beneath the blue Treasury seal. The note bears serial number U98617207A and carries the classic Silver Certificate wording promising payment in silver to the bearer on demand, a design element unique to this class of American currency issued before silver redemption ended.
The face carries the printed signatures of Kathryn O’Hay Granahan, Treasurer of the United States, and C. Douglas Dillon, Secretary of the Treasury, along with the plate check letter C1 and quadrant numeral C765. The reverse displays the traditional green ink design with the Great Seal of the United States on the left, the word “ONE” in large ornamental type at center, and the reverse of the Great Seal with the pyramid and eye on the right, along with the “IN GOD WE TRUST” motto.
The note shows genuine circulation wear consistent with its age, including visible horizontal and vertical fold lines, overall toning and yellowing of the paper, and a few small spots of discoloration on the face near the portrait. Corners show light softening and handling wear. The bill is currently housed in a protective plastic sleeve with a small paper price tag affixed to the exterior.
