1957 Series $1 Silver Certificate Note

United States $1 Silver Certificate, Series 1957, with blue Treasury seal, serial number S51565335A, and printed signatures of Ivy Baker Priest and Robert B. Anderson.

Description

United States one-dollar Silver Certificate from the Series 1957 issue, featuring the portrait of George Washington at center and the blue Treasury seal on the right. The note carries the printed pledge that silver is payable to the bearer on demand, with serial number S51565335A appearing in blue ink at both the upper right and lower left corners.

The face bears the printed signatures of Ivy Baker Priest, Treasurer of the United States, and Robert B. Anderson, Secretary of the Treasury, along with the Washington, D.C. district designation beneath the seal. The reverse displays the traditional green engraving of the Great Seal of the United States, including the eagle with shield and the pyramid with all-seeing eye, along with the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST.”

The note shows the expected handling wear of a note this age, including visible folds and creases running through the design, softened corners, and a rust-colored stain near the left edge on both sides. General toning is present across the paper, consistent with genuine circulation and age.
