Description
United States one-dollar Silver Certificate, Series 1957B, printed with the distinctive blue Treasury seal that marked this class of note as redeemable in silver rather than backed by gold reserves. The obverse features the familiar portrait of George Washington centered beneath the bold “THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” header, with the certification language stating the note is legal tender for all debts, public and private.
Printed details include the Washington, D.C. Treasury seal in blue, the signatures of Treasurer Kathryn O’Hay Granahan and Secretary of the Treasury C. Douglas Dillon, and the serial number W50522125A appearing in matching blue ink at upper right and lower left. The reverse carries the Great Seal of the United States, showing both the pyramid with the “Annuit Coeptis” and “Novus Ordo Seclorum” mottos and the eagle bearing the national shield, along with the “IN GOD WE TRUST” inscription and plate numbers 406 and G774.
The note presents in crisp condition with sharp corners and clean, bright paper. No folds, tears, stains, or significant handling wear are visible in the photographs.
