Description
Original pen-and-ink and gray-wash cartoon artwork on paper, offered as a set of three sheets from a series titled “Visiting Day,” bearing the name Stan Fine. Signature/marking present as shown; attribution not verified. Inquire for details. The drawings tell a comic summer-camp story in a loose, mid-century magazine-gag style: a crying boy dashes toward a waiting station wagon beneath a “Camp Chipawee” sign, while a later panel shows the family car packed for departure with a typed caption reading “Junior has decided to stay, Daddy — come say goodbye.” Each sheet combines confident brush and pen linework with washed gray tone for shading and depth.
The title sheet carries a centered typed credit line, “VISITING DAY by Stan Fine,” and one illustrated page is numbered “1” in the lower left while another is numbered “8” with the punchline caption set along the left margin and a small stylized signature within the drawing itself. The reverse of one sheet bears a black ink studio stamp reading “STAN FINE, 1128 E. VERNON RD., PHILA, PA,” along with light pencil notations. A small pin or staple mark is present at the upper right corner of the title sheet, consistent with pages once bound together as a submission packet.
The sheets show typical age toning along the edges, with heavier yellow-brown staining concentrated at the upper right corner of two pages.
