Description
Series 1976 two-dollar Federal Reserve Note, printed with the portrait of Thomas Jefferson on the face and an engraving of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on the reverse. The green Treasury seal and the District B (New York) Federal Reserve seal are both clearly printed, and the serial number B01002664 carries a star symbol, identifying it as a star replacement note.
The note carries the printed signatures of Francine I. Neff, Treasurer of the United States, and William E. Simon, Secretary of the Treasury, both standard to this series. Standard borderwork, denomination numerals, and “THIS NOTE IS LEGAL TENDER FOR ALL DEBTS, PUBLIC AND PRIVATE” text are present along the lower face. The note is currently housed in a protective plastic sleeve with a small paper tag numbered 0123 tucked inside.
The bill shows genuine circulation wear, including soft corner rounding, light overall toning, and a small ink notation (“49”) handwritten in blue pen near the top of the portrait. A faint crease runs vertically through the note, and there is minor edge fraying along the top border. No tears, holes, or missing pieces are present.
