Description
Series 1953 five-dollar United States Note, printed with a red Treasury seal and Lincoln’s portrait centered on the obverse. The serial number reads 04829831A and is flanked by a star symbol, marking this as a star replacement note issued by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. As a Legal Tender (United States Note) rather than a Federal Reserve Note, it carries the red seal and serial ink characteristic of this series.
The reverse features an engraving of the Lincoln Memorial framed by ornamental scrollwork, with FIVE DOLLARS lettering along the top and bottom borders. The obverse bears the printed signatures of the Treasurer and the Secretary of the Treasury beneath the phrase “This note is legal tender at its face value for all debts, public and private,” along with the district letter H and plate number H13 in the corners.
The note shows genuine circulation wear, including visible folds and creasing across the surface, mild overall toning to the paper, and some edge softening. It is currently housed in a protective currency sleeve.
