Description
Series 1976 two-dollar Federal Reserve Note featuring Thomas Jefferson on the obverse and an engraving of the Declaration of Independence signing on the reverse. Issued by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, identified by the district letter B and seal, this denomination was first released in 1976 to mark the U.S. Bicentennial and carries the green Treasury seal typical of Federal Reserve Notes.
The note bears serial number B28217881A, with the signatures of Francine I. Neff, Treasurer of the United States, and William E. Simon, Secretary of the Treasury, printed along the lower portion of the bill. A small blue rubber-stamped notation reading “First National Use” appears near the top center of the obverse, and a printed inventory tag numbered 0014 is visible in one photograph, affixed for cataloging purposes rather than part of the note itself.
The note shows circulation wear consistent with its age, including soft creasing across the surface, mild corner softening, and light overall toning to the paper, particularly along the edges. No tears, holes, or major stains are present, and the printing on both sides remains clear and legible throughout.
