Dating to the 1953 series, this two dollar United States Note carries the distinctive red Treasury seal and red serial numbers that mark it as a legal tender note rather than a Federal Reserve Note. The obverse features the familiar portrait of Thomas Jefferson set within an oval frame, with the serial number A43010560A printed in red at both upper right and lower left. The reverse displays the well-known engraving of Monticello, Jefferson’s Virginia home, framed by ornate scrollwork typical of mid-century American currency design.

The note is printed “SERIES 1953” with the facsimile signatures of Ivy Baker Priest as Treasurer of the United States and G.M. Humphrey as Secretary of the Treasury. “Washington, D.C.” is printed beneath the seal, and the note bears the standard legal tender clause stating it is payable to the bearer on demand for all debts, public and private.

The note shows heavy circulation wear, with a prominent grid of hard creases and fold lines running across both the face and back.
