Description
Printed in the distinctive blue-seal style of the mid-century Silver Certificate series, this United States one-dollar note carries the bold blue Treasury seal and matching blue serial numbers that set Silver Certificates apart from standard Federal Reserve notes. The obverse features the familiar portrait of George Washington framed in an ornate oval, with the wording “This certifies that there is on deposit in the Treasury of the United States of America one dollar in silver payable to the bearer on demand.” The reverse displays the Great Seal of the United States alongside the pyramid and all-seeing eye design, printed in green ink, with “ONE” spelled out in large ornamental lettering.
The note is marked “SERIES 1957” and bears the printed signatures of Ivy Baker Priest, Treasurer of the United States, and Robert B. Anderson, Secretary of the Treasury. The serial number U19973352A appears twice on the face, and the seal reads “Washington, D.C.” with district designation G531 printed nearby.
The note shows honest circulation wear consistent with its age, including visible creasing across the center fold, mild toning and soft discoloration to the paper, and a small triangular notch missing from the upper right corner. The surface remains fully legible with no significant staining beyond general handling wear, and the note retains its original flexibility without major tears or splits.
