Description

A blue-seal United States one-dollar Silver Certificate dominates this listing, its portrait of George Washington centered beneath ornate engraving and flanked by bold ‘1’ numerals in each corner. The note reads ‘Series 1957A’ and carries the printed promise that it is ‘Silver Payable to the Bearer on Demand,’ a hallmark of this now-discontinued class of American currency. Serial number Q70319576A appears twice in blue ink, once at upper right and once at lower left.

The blue Treasury seal sits to the right of Washington’s portrait alongside the printed signatures of Elizabeth Rudel Smith, Treasurer of the United States, and C. Douglas Dillon, Secretary of the Treasury, both consistent with the 1957A series. The reverse carries the familiar green-ink design of the Great Seal of the United States on the left, the unfinished pyramid and all-seeing eye on the right, and ‘ONE DOLLAR’ spelled out in large ornamental type across the center, along with the motto ‘In God We Trust.’
