Description
Blue-seal one-dollar Silver Certificate from Series 1957B, featuring the familiar portrait of George Washington centered on the obverse and the Great Seal eagle alongside the pyramid and all-seeing eye on the reverse. The note reads “This certifies that there is on deposit in the Treasury of the United States of America one dollar in silver payable to the bearer on demand,” a classic hallmark of the Silver Certificate series issued before the U.S. moved fully to Federal Reserve Notes.
Printed signatures of Kathryn O’Hay Granahan, Treasurer of the United States, and C. Douglas Dillon, Secretary of the Treasury, appear at the lower corners, with the blue Treasury seal positioned to the right of the portrait. The serial number W27704673A is printed in matching blue ink at both top right and lower left, with district block B2 noted near the top left border.
The note shows genuine circulation wear consistent with its age, including overall toning and yellowing of the paper, soft creasing and light corner wear, and a small area of foxing/staining near the portrait on the obverse. A paper price tag reading “0066” is affixed to one photographed example but is not part of the note itself.
