Description
United States two-dollar bill from Series 1976, printed with the green Treasury seal and issued through the Washington, D.C. Bureau of Engraving and Printing. The obverse carries the familiar portrait of Thomas Jefferson, while the reverse features the engraved scene of the signing of the Declaration of Independence along with the banner “THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and the phrase “IN GOD WE TRUST.” The note carries serial number B25793379A with Federal Reserve District letter B, identifying it as a New York-issued note.
Printed text on the front includes the standard legal tender clause, “THIS NOTE IS LEGAL TENDER FOR ALL DEBTS, PUBLIC AND PRIVATE,” along with the printed Treasurer and Secretary of the Treasury signatures and the Series 1976 designation beneath the green Treasury seal. The reverse repeats the “TWO DOLLARS” denomination in each corner and includes the small plate number 22 near the lower right of the engraving.
The note shows genuine circulation wear with light creasing and toning along the edges consistent with age. A signature in blue ink has been added by hand across the front near the portrait, and a small patch of paper or adhesive residue is stuck to the lower portion of Jefferson’s portrait. The bill is currently housed in a protective plastic sleeve with a paper lot tag adhered to the front for identification purposes.
