Description
Crisp green ink and a classic portrait of Thomas Jefferson anchor this 1976 Series two-dollar Federal Reserve Note, issued through the Federal Reserve Bank of New York (district seal “B”). The face carries the green Treasury seal, serial number B28003452A printed in green at both upper right and lower left, and the engraved signatures of Treasurer Francine A. Neff and Secretary of the Treasury William E. Simon beneath the Jefferson portrait.
The reverse features the well-known engraving of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, framed by “THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “TWO DOLLARS” banners, with “IN GOD WE TRUST” and “DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE, 1776” printed along the bottom border. This is a standard Federal Reserve Note issue, not a Silver Certificate, and no star symbol appears within the serial number.
The note shows genuine circulation wear consistent with its age, including overall toning and yellowing of the paper, scattered small dark spots and light soiling, a faint pen or pencil mark near the left border on the reverse, and soft handling creases. Corners are intact with only minor softening, and the note is currently housed in a protective plastic sleeve with a small inventory tag affixed to the face.
