Description
Genuine United States currency, this is a Series 1976 two-dollar Federal Reserve Note issued by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, District B. The obverse carries the portrait of Thomas Jefferson framed in an oval vignette, with the green Treasury seal and matching serial number B20761996A printed in green ink on both left and right margins.
Printed text identifies the note as “Federal Reserve Note” and “This Note Is Legal Tender For All Debts, Public and Private,” with the Washington, D.C. issuing location noted beneath the serial number. The signatures of Francine I. Neff, Treasurer of the United States, and William E. Simon, Secretary of the Treasury, appear along the lower portion of the face. The reverse features the well-known engraving of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, along with the “In God We Trust” motto and the inscription “Declaration of Independence, 1776.”
The note shows light overall toning consistent with age and handling, along with a faint smudge near the lower border on the face side. Corners remain sharp with no significant folds, tears, or missing paper, and the printing and green ink remain crisp and legible throughout.
