Description
United States two-dollar bill issued under Series 1976, featuring the portrait of Thomas Jefferson on the face and an engraving of the Declaration of Independence signing on the reverse. As a Federal Reserve Note rather than a Legal Tender or Silver Certificate issue, this denomination was printed to mark the U.S. Bicentennial and remains legal tender at face value today.
The note carries a green Treasury seal and matching green serial numbers reading B22020854A, with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York designation (District B) printed at left. Printed signatures of the Treasurer of the United States and the Secretary of the Treasury appear along the lower border, and “SERIES 1976” is printed beneath the Jefferson portrait. The face also shows a small area of purple ink writing and pencil notations added after issue, along with a small printed price tag affixed near the left seal.
The note shows overall circulated wear with visible handling creases, a vertical center fold, and mellowed toning across the paper, most pronounced along the edges and corners. A small reddish ink spot is present near the lower border, and light soiling is visible on both the face and reverse. No tears, holes, or missing corners are present.
