Description
Series 1976 two-dollar Federal Reserve Note, printed on the traditional cotton-linen currency paper used by the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing. The obverse carries the engraved portrait of Thomas Jefferson at center, framed by the green Treasury seal and serial numbers B13858152A, with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York seal (letter B) at left. The reverse features the well-known engraving of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, along with the “IN GOD WE TRUST” motto and “DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE, 1776” banner beneath the scene.
The note is drawn on the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and issued from Washington, D.C., bearing the printed signatures of Francine A. Neff, Treasurer of the United States, and William E. Simon, Secretary of the Treasury. Denomination markers of “2” appear in each corner on both sides, and the note measures to standard U.S. currency dimensions. A small paper lot tag numbered 0035 is affixed to the face of the note in one of the photographs, indicating prior handling as part of a collection or sale lot.
The note shows genuine circulation wear, including a horizontal center fold, several vertical creases, and moderate toning and yellowing along the edges and corners. A small reddish-brown spot is visible on the reverse near the central engraving, and light soiling and handling marks are present across both sides. No tears, holes, or missing pieces are evident.
