Description
Bold green Treasury seal and matching green serial numbers frame Thomas Jefferson’s portrait on this Series 1976 two-dollar Federal Reserve Note, issued by the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco (district 12, seal letter L). The note carries serial number L16722914A, with the printed year 1976 clearly visible beneath the portrait alongside the signatures of the Treasurer and Secretary of the Treasury.
The reverse features the well-known Declaration of Independence engraving, showing the assembled delegates presenting the document, with “IN GOD WE TRUST” and “DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE, 1776” banners below the image. District numerals and small letter/number designations appear in each corner of the obverse, standard identifiers for Federal Reserve currency of this era. A small paper collector’s tag numbered 0030 is affixed to the note in one of the photographs, suggesting prior inclusion in a lot or collection inventory.
The note shows genuine circulation wear consistent with its age, including overall toning and yellowing of the paper, soft edges, and a visible fold line running horizontally near the bottom. No tears, holes, or heavy staining are present, and the printed detail on both sides remains sharp and legible throughout.
