Description
Series 1976 two-dollar Federal Reserve Note featuring Thomas Jefferson on the obverse and an engraving of the Declaration of Independence on the reverse. The note carries a green Treasury seal and matching green serial numbers, L47608789A, with the district designation 12, identifying it as issued through the San Francisco Federal Reserve Bank.
Printed text includes “THIS NOTE IS LEGAL TENDER FOR ALL DEBTS, PUBLIC AND PRIVATE” along with the signatures of the Treasurer and Secretary of the Treasury reproduced as part of the engraving. The reverse bears the familiar “IN GOD WE TRUST” banner and the caption “DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE, 1776” beneath the Trumbull-based scene of the Founding Fathers. A small paper price tag numbered 0047 is affixed to the face of the note in one of the photos.
The bill shows genuine circulation wear consistent with its age, including visible corner and edge softening, light overall toning to the paper, a faint horizontal fold line, and a small stain near the Treasury seal on the obverse. No tears, holes, or writing are present beyond the printed elements and the attached price tag.
