Description
United States two dollar bill, Series 1976, printed on the government’s cotton-linen currency paper and issued as a Federal Reserve Note. The obverse carries the familiar portrait of Thomas Jefferson in an oval frame, while the reverse features the engraved scene of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, with “IN GOD WE TRUST” and “DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE, 1776” printed beneath the image.
The note was issued through the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, Virginia, identified by the black “E” seal and matching district letter in the serial number, which reads E17599402A. Green Treasury seal and serial numbers appear alongside the printed signatures of Francine I. Neff, Treasurer of the United States, and William E. Simon, Secretary of the Treasury. Plate position markings H2 and H9 are visible in the corners of the obverse.
The bill shows a visible center fold and light overall handling, consistent with a note that has circulated. There is mild yellowing and toning to the paper, along with a small spot near the Treasury seal on the right side. Corners show light softening but no tears, and the printing remains crisp and fully legible throughout.
