Description
Delicately rendered on paper in the meticulous gongbi tradition, this painting depicts a blush pink cabbage rose and a smaller red rose on a leafy, trailing vine, with a green-and-gold butterfly hovering above the blooms. A column of Chinese calligraphy runs along the upper left, paired with what reads as an artist’s inscription and seal-style signature in the margin. The work is laid onto a dark olive silk mat patterned with a repeating navy floral brocade, set within a gilt-toned wood frame with a rounded profile. A paper label on the reverse from “The Artful Frame Galleries of Fort Lauderdale,” hand-dated 29-03-88, documents the framing job, and the backing board is fitted with a standard sawtooth hanger for wall display.
