Standing carved wood elephant figure finished in a deep ebonized black, sculpted with a raised trunk curling forward and full detailing on the ears, eyes, and tail. The form captures a walking elephant with head lowered, tusks projecting forward, and toenails carved into each rounded foot — a classic decorative sculpture built for a shelf, mantel, or console table.
The body is carved from a single piece of dense wood and finished with a smooth matte-to-satin black surface. The tusks and the toenail accents on each foot are fashioned from a contrasting pale, light-toned material set against the dark wood grain; this inset material has not been identified and is not represented as ivory or bone. Glass or inset eye detailing gives the face added realism, with painted highlights defining the eye and brow area.
