Description
Series 1976 two-dollar Federal Reserve Note, issued from Washington, D.C. and featuring the engraved portrait of Thomas Jefferson on the face. The green Treasury seal and matching serial numbers appear at both right and left of the portrait, with the distinctive bicentennial-era reverse depicting the signing of the Declaration of Independence, John Trumbull’s iconic composition rendered in fine green line engraving.
The note carries the Federal Reserve Bank of New York designation, shown by the “B” seal and district numeral, along with the printed signatures of Francine Neff, Treasurer of the United States, and William Simon, Secretary of the Treasury. Serial number B22997204A is printed in green ink on both corners of the obverse, consistent with the standard Federal Reserve Note format of the period.
The note shows even, light toning across the paper consistent with age, along with a faint vertical crease and some soft corner wear. One photo shows the note stored in a protective plastic sleeve with a small paper tag marked “0011” affixed near the seal for inventory purposes. No tears, holes, or heavy handling marks are visible.
