Series 1976 Two Dollar Federal Reserve Note

Series 1976 two dollar bill featuring Thomas Jefferson’s portrait framed in an oval vignette on the face, printed with a green Treasury seal and green serial numbers reading B24947206A. The note carries the District B seal for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and is stamped “Washington, D.C.” beneath the large green “TWO” at right.

The reverse displays the classic engraving of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, framed by ornate scrollwork and the motto “In God We Trust.” The face bears the printed signatures of Francine A. Neff, Treasurer of the United States, and William E. Simon, Secretary of the Treasury, along with plate position markings H4 and H20. The note is currently housed in a clear protective sleeve with a paper tag numbered “0056.”

The bill shows genuine circulation wear, including light soiling, mellowed toning along the edges, and a visible center crease. Several small pencil or pen marks are present on the face near the seal and lower right corner, consistent with handling or prior cataloging.
