Description
Series 1976 Two Dollar Federal Reserve Note issued from the New York district, identified by the black “B” seal and the matching serial number B26560419A printed in green ink on both sides of the face. Thomas Jefferson appears in the central portrait oval, with the green Treasury seal to the right and “WASHINGTON, D.C.” printed beneath it. The reverse carries the well-known engraving of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, framed by “THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “TWO DOLLARS” banners along with the “IN GOD WE TRUST” motto.
The note bears the printed signatures of Francine A. Neff, Treasurer of the United States, and William E. Simon, Secretary of the Treasury, along with the district letter “B” and corresponding numeral “2” repeated in the corners and seal. “SERIES 1976” is printed beneath the Jefferson portrait, and the note measures to standard U.S. currency dimensions.
The bill shows genuine circulation wear consistent with its age, including light overall toning, a small brownish spot on the portrait near Jefferson’s forehead, and visible diagonal and horizontal fold lines running through the paper. A small paper collector’s tag reading “0028” is affixed to the face of the note in one photo but is not part of the currency itself. Corners remain intact with only minor softening, and the printing and serial numbers remain sharp and fully legible.
