Description
Series 1976 $2 Federal Reserve Note featuring Thomas Jefferson on the obverse and an engraving of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on the reverse. Issued by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York (district letter B), the note carries a green Treasury seal and matching green serial numbers, B20920898A, printed twice on the face.
The front bears the signatures of Francine I. Neff, Treasurer of the United States, and William E. Simon, Secretary of the Treasury, along with the standard “Federal Reserve Note” and “This Note Is Legal Tender For All Debts, Public And Private” inscriptions. The reverse reproduces John Trumbull’s famous depiction of the Declaration of Independence beneath the “In God We Trust” motto and the note’s denomination banners.
The note shows overall circulated wear consistent with its age, including light yellowing/toning across the paper, a visible horizontal crease near the center, and soft corner wear. It is currently housed in a protective plastic sleeve with a small paper price tag affixed near the upper left of the obverse.
