Description
United States one-dollar Silver Certificate printed on paper currency stock, featuring the portrait of George Washington centered on the obverse within an ornate engraved border. The note carries the blue Treasury seal and blue serial numbers, with the inscription “This certifies that there is on deposit in the Treasury of the United States of America one dollar in silver payable to the bearer on demand.”
The note is marked Series 1957A, Washington D.C., with printed signatures of Elizabeth Rudel Smith as Treasurer of the United States and C. Douglas Dillon as Secretary of the Treasury. The reverse displays the familiar green ink design with the Great Seal of the United States on one side and the reverse of the seal with the pyramid and eye above the motto “In God We Trust” on the other. Serial number B31389846A appears in the upper right and lower left corners of the face.
The note shows overall circulated condition with visible handling creases, mild toning along the edges, and light corner wear consistent with age. The paper retains its original crispness in the central portrait area, with some yellowing near the borders typical of a note of this vintage.
