Description
Featuring Abraham Lincoln’s portrait in the center oval, this United States five-dollar note was issued as a Legal Tender (Red Seal) Note and would have circulated as everyday paper currency, redeemable at face value for all public and private debts.
The note reads “THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” across the top with “Series 1953” printed near the signature lines. A red Treasury seal appears to the right of Lincoln’s portrait, with matching red serial numbers A97469699A in the upper right and lower left corners. The printed signatures of the Treasurer of the United States and the Secretary of the Treasury appear along the bottom edge, and the reverse shows a green-ink engraving of the Lincoln Memorial framed by ornamental scrollwork and “FIVE DOLLARS” lettering.
The note shows honest circulation wear consistent with its age, including a vertical center fold, softened corners, light overall toning, and a small blue ink mark near the top left border. No tears or missing pieces are present, and the printed details remain crisp and legible throughout.
