Description
Printed in blue seal ink, this United States one-dollar Silver Certificate carries a serial number preceded by a star symbol, marking it as a replacement or star note within the Series 1957 issue. The obverse features the familiar portrait of George Washington framed by ornate engraved scrollwork, with the blue Treasury seal and “WASHINGTON D.C.” text positioned to the right of the portrait, and bold text overhead reading “THIS CERTIFIES THAT THERE IS ON DEPOSIT IN THE TREASURY OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA ONE DOLLAR.”
The reverse displays the standard green-ink design used across this note type, including the Great Seal of the United States with its eagle and shield on the right, and the reverse of the seal with the unfinished pyramid and “Eye of Providence” on the left, flanked by “IN GOD WE TRUST” and the large “ONE” lettering. The serial number reads *78841830A, and the signatures of Ivy Baker Priest, Treasurer of the United States, and Robert B. Anderson, Secretary of the Treasury, appear at the lower portion of the obverse.
The note shows overall circulated wear consistent with its age, including light toning to the paper, a small chip or clip to the upper left corner, and faint creasing throughout. No tears, holes, or heavy staining are present, and the printed details, seal, and serial numbers remain fully legible.
