Description
United States one-dollar Silver Certificate printed on paper currency stock, featuring the familiar portrait of George Washington centered on the obverse within an ornate engraved frame. The note reads “Silver Certificate” across the top and states that the certificate is legal tender for all debts, public and private, with the promise that it is payable in silver to the bearer on demand. The reverse carries the classic green ink Great Seal design, showing the pyramid with the all-seeing eye on the left and the American eagle clutching an olive branch and arrows on the right.
The note is identified as Series 1935 E, with serial number X 91500220 G printed in blue ink on the face. Ivy Baker Priest’s signature appears as Treasurer of the United States, alongside the Secretary of the Treasury’s signature, both printed as part of the note’s original engraving. The blue Treasury seal is positioned to the right of Washington’s portrait, consistent with Silver Certificate issues of this series.
The note shows genuine circulation wear, with noticeable yellow-brown toning and staining concentrated along the upper right and lower right corners and edges. A diagonal fold crease runs through the center of the bill, along with several lighter horizontal and vertical creases from handling and folding. The corners show soft rounding and light wear consistent with age, and the paper retains its original flexibility without tears or missing pieces.
