1935-E One Dollar Silver Certificate

Description

Blue-seal United States one-dollar Silver Certificate from Series 1935 E, featuring the familiar portrait of George Washington centered on the obverse. The note reads “THIS CERTIFIES THAT THERE IS ON DEPOSIT IN THE TREASURY OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA ONE DOLLAR IN SILVER PAYABLE TO THE BEARER ON DEMAND,” with matching serial number K18400639H printed in blue ink at both the upper right and lower left corners.

The blue Treasury seal appears to the right of Washington’s portrait alongside the printed signatures of the Treasurer of the United States and the Secretary of the Treasury, with “SERIES 1935 E” printed beneath. The reverse carries the traditional green ornamental design, including the Great Seal of the United States and the reverse of the seal with the pyramid and eye, printed in the standard green ink used for U.S. currency of this era.

The note shows honest circulation wear consistent with its age, including soft folds and creasing throughout, light toning and yellowing of the paper, and a few small rust-colored foxing spots along the right edge. A small triangular notch is present at the lower right corner, and the corners show mild rounding from handling. All text and numerals remain fully legible.
