Description
United States two-dollar bill from the 1953 Series, printed on the classic legal tender note paper with the red Treasury seal and serial numbers, denoting it as a United States Note rather than a Federal Reserve Note. The obverse carries the portrait of Thomas Jefferson, and the reverse features an engraved view of Monticello rendered in green ink, matching the design used across this series.
The note reads “Washington, D.C.” beneath the seal, carries the serial number A 28445070 A, and bears the printed signatures of Ivy Baker Priest as Treasurer of the United States and G.M. Humphrey as Secretary of the Treasury. Legal tender language is printed along the left border stating the note is valid for all debts, public and private. A small paper tag with an inventory number has been placed over part of the serial number on the obverse for cataloging purposes.
The note shows the toning and light soiling typical of a circulated bill of this age, with a visible vertical center fold and softened corners. Paper remains intact with no tears, and the printing on both sides stays crisp and fully legible throughout.
