Blue-seal United States one-dollar Silver Certificate, Series 1957A, featuring the familiar portrait of George Washington centered on the obverse within an ornate engraved border. The note carries serial number B40433076A, printed in blue ink to match the Treasury seal, and reads “This Certifies That There Is On Deposit In The Treasury Of The United States Of America One Dollar In Silver Payable To The Bearer On Demand.”
The face bears the printed signatures of Elizabeth Rudel Smith, Treasurer of the United States, and C. Douglas Dillon, Secretary of the Treasury, along with the Washington, D.C. issuing designation. The reverse displays the familiar green-ink design with the Great Seal of the United States on the right and the pyramid and all-seeing eye on the left, flanking the large “ONE” and “IN GOD WE TRUST” lettering.
The note shows notable toning and foxing spots scattered across both sides, most pronounced along the top edge and corners of the reverse, consistent with age and paper aging over time. The bill remains flat and intact with no tears, holes, or missing corners, and the crisp engraving detail throughout the border work and portrait remains sharp and legible.
