Description
Small-size United States one-dollar Silver Certificate, Series 1935E, featuring the familiar portrait of George Washington centered on the obverse within an ornate engraved border. The blue Treasury seal and blue serial numbers (D14365215H) identify it as a Silver Certificate rather than a Federal Reserve Note, and the note carries the standard legal tender language stating it is redeemable in silver payable to the bearer on demand.
The reverse is printed in green ink and displays the Great Seal of the United States, including the eagle on one side and the pyramid with the all-seeing eye on the other, surrounded by dense scrollwork typical of Bureau of Engraving and Printing currency design from this era. Printed signatures of Ivy Baker Priest, Treasurer of the United States, and G.M. Humphrey, Secretary of the Treasury, appear along the lower portion of the obverse, along with the small “Series 1935E” designation near the seal.
The note shows honest circulation wear consistent with its age, including visible handling creases and folds, light scattered foxing spots, and mild toning to the paper, particularly along the upper left corner. Edges show light softening from handling, and the note is currently housed in a protective plastic sleeve with a small paper tag affixed to the exterior of the sleeve, not the bill itself.
