Description
United States two-dollar bill, Series 1953-A, featuring a red Treasury seal and the printed portrait of Thomas Jefferson on the obverse. Issued as a United States Note (Legal Tender issue) rather than a Federal Reserve Note, this denomination is distinguished by its red serial numbers and seal rather than the green seals used on later issues.
The note carries serial number A52956741A, with the printed signatures of Treasurer Ivy Baker Priest and Secretary of the Treasury Robert B. Anderson. The reverse features the traditional engraving of Monticello beneath a “THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” banner, printed in green ink consistent with this series. A small paper tag marked “0145” is affixed to the front of the note in one photo for inventory or lot-reference purposes.
The note shows honest circulation wear, including a small tear at the lower left edge, soft creasing and fold lines across the surface, and general toning and soiling consistent with age and handling. Corners are softened and the paper shows the expected limpness of a well-circulated bill.
