Bold red Treasury seal and serial numbers dominate the face of this 1953 series five-dollar United States Note, with a portrait of Abraham Lincoln centered beneath the denomination banners. This is Legal Tender currency rather than a Federal Reserve Note, identifiable by the red seal and red serial numbering rather than the more familiar green. The reverse carries the traditional green-ink engraving of the Lincoln Memorial framed by ornamental scrollwork.
The note is marked Series 1953 and carries serial number B05450779A, with the printed signatures of Ivy Baker Priest, Treasurer of the United States, and G.M. Humphrey, Secretary of the Treasury — standard engraved officer signatures found on notes of this series. Washington, D.C. is printed as the issuing location, and the note carries the standard Bureau of Engraving and Printing plate numbering in the lower corners.
The note shows honest circulation wear consistent with its age, including visible fold lines, soft corners, and overall toning of the paper to a light tan. Faint pencil or pen marks appear near the center of the obverse, and there is minor edge softening at the lower corner. No holes, missing pieces, or major tears are present.
